Interim Director of Project Management

Salary: Inside IR35 - £400-435 per day DOE
Our client, a local authority in the West Midlands, is seeking an experienced Interim Project Manager to lead the reintegration of their Housing Repairs and Maintenance service. The Project Manager will play a pivotal role in delivering this complex and high-profile programme, ensuring a smooth transition across 8 workstreams, while leading engagement with employees, stakeholders, and the wider community.
Key Responsibilities- Manage the day-to-day execution of the programme, ensuring the successful delivery of 8 key workstreams that facilitate the reintegration of the repairs and maintenance service back to the council.
- Provide project management support to the Programme Lead and assist with the overall governance, ensuring seamless coordination of all aspects of the programme.
- Drive forward employee engagement, leading workshops, roadshows, and internal/external messaging activities to ensure clear communication and understanding of the transition.
- Work closely with Trade Union representatives to lead consultation processes and employee engagement activities throughout the project.
- Identify risks, escalate concerns where appropriate, and manage the risk register to ensure the programme is delivered on time, within budget, and to specified standards.
- Provide operational input and ensure professional advice is integrated into the project from an early stage to meet housing repair and maintenance requirements.
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., public/business administration, law, finance, construction management) or equivalent practical experience.
- Project management qualifications such as APM, MSP, Prince 2, or extensive experience in programme/project and change management.
- Proven experience in managing housing repairs and maintenance services or overseeing the insourcing of such services.
- Experience of working at a strategic level within a local government setting.
- Strong understanding of housing repairs and maintenance regulations, policies, and best practices.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to lead engagement activities with staff, trade unions, and external partners.
