Electrical Engineer Job Description

HKA Enterprises is a global workforce solutions firm seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join our team. As an Electrical Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and developing electrical systems for industrial equipment, including air conditioners, liquid cooling units, and ground power units.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop electrical system architecture for new product development and prototyping.
  • Select and apply electromechanical control devices, including contactors, relays, switches, circuit breakers, transformers, and power supplies.
  • Create and maintain electrical documentation, including schematics, wiring diagrams, wiring harnesses, cable assemblies, and electrical cabinet bills of materials.
  • Develop test plans and first power-up instructions for new products.
  • Support first product start-up with testing teams at the factory and early production runs.
  • Collaborate with production, mechanical, and software teams to ensure seamless integration of work.
  • Control costs to Design to Cost (DTC) objectives through proper component selection and coordination with Product Managers.
  • Maintain electrical safety standards.
Requirements:
  • AS degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • BSEE or better preferred.
  • 1-3 years' experience with industrial-type equipment and their control systems.
  • Ability to read electrical diagrams/schematics and understand their functions.
  • Capable of designing schematic layouts, wiring sizing, and control cabinet layouts.
  • Familiarity with UL, NEC, and CE compliance design rules.
  • Automotive-type wiring harness design and layout experience is a plus.
  • Familiarity with electrical testing equipment, multimeters, amp clamps, power analyzers, oscilloscopes.
  • Ability to utilize Microsoft Office to create documents, spreadsheets, and presentations.
  • Basic working knowledge of Solidworks Electrical or equivalent 3D CAD software preferred.
  • AC motors control experience, both electromechanical and using VFD type controls preferred.
  • Previous PLC programming experience preferred, especially in an IEC compliant programming environment.
  • Working knowledge of C programming language preferred.
