About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Backend Engineer to join our team in London, UK. As a key member of our engineering squad, you will design, develop, and deploy scalable backend systems that power our flagship product. Your expertise will help shape the future of our platform, ensuring seamless user experiences and high-performance infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and implement high-quality, maintainable, and efficient backend services using PHP, Laravel, and related technologies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify requirements, architect solutions, and integrate new features into our existing infrastructure.
  • Develop and mentor junior engineers, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and growth within the team.
  • Analyze system performance, optimize bottlenecks, and ensure smooth operation under high traffic conditions.
  • Participate in code reviews, pair programming, and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) processes to maintain exceptional code quality and standards.
Requirements:
  • 4+ years of professional experience in software development, with a strong focus on backend systems and architecture.
  • Excellent understanding of PHP, Laravel, and related frameworks, as well as proficiency in Go and containerization.
  • Experience with relational databases, in-memory data stores, time-series databases, observability, telemetry, and high-volume system monitoring.
  • Comfortable with testing principles, TDD best practices, and version control systems like Git.
  • Able to communicate complex technical ideas effectively, both written and verbally.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies, Scrum, and Kanban.
