At LWS Recruitment, we are partnering with a renowned recycling plant hire company to find an experienced Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join their growing engineering team.
Company Overview
The company is a leading provider of quality machinery from world-renowned OEM brands. Due to ongoing expansion, they are seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Mechanic to diagnose problems, maintain, and repair a fleet of recycling plant equipment, including shredders and screeners, in the field.
Compensation and Benefits
The successful candidate can expect a competitive starting salary of £42,000 per annum, with an estimated total earnings of £50,000 plus, including overtime. The package also includes:
- 31 days of paid holiday, plus an enhanced scheme after one year's service and birthday off each year

Job Description
As a Heavy Equipment Mechanic, you will be responsible for:
- Diagnosing problems and performing routine maintenance on a fleet of recycling plant equipment
- Carrying out repairs and replacements in the field, often working independently and with minimal supervision
- Ensuring all work is carried out to the highest standard, with attention to detail and a focus on safety
- Maintaining positive working relationships with customers and colleagues
- Working a significant amount of paid overtime, with some overnight stays required
Requirements and Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Relevant qualifications and background in mechanical engineering
- Knowledge of heavy plant equipment, with previous experience with shredders and screeners a major advantage
- Good understanding of hydraulic and electrical systems
- Proven experience of mobile/field servicing, with the ability to work independently and efficiently
- A full driving license and willingness to travel extensively throughout the UK
