About the Position:

This role offers a chance to join a supportive team as a Special Education Assistant, working specifically with students who have autism. The successful candidate will provide personalized assistance, collaborate with educators, and help create a nurturing environment that encourages social interaction and emotional growth.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Work one-on-one with students, tailoring support to their specific requirements.
  • Contribute to developing and implementing tailored education plans in collaboration with teachers and therapists.
  • Apply effective communication strategies, including PECS, Makaton, or assistive technology.
  • Support students in developing social skills, emotional intelligence, and independence.
  • Document and communicate student progress to relevant stakeholders.

Ideal Candidate Attributes:

We are seeking an experienced professional with a compassionate approach, strong communication skills, and a genuine interest in supporting young people with autism. Training will be provided for the right candidate. Experience in a special needs setting is highly desirable but not essential.

Estimated Annual Salary: £29,200.
