Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Surgical Matron to join our team in Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of care in our gastroenterology, endoscopy, and outpatient-based areas.

The post holder will work closely with the head of nursing to drive departmental improvement plans, develop staff, and oversee governance, rota management, and budget management. This is an excellent opportunity for a senior nurse leader to take on a challenging role and make a significant impact on patient care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To lead by example and promote high-quality patient care in line with NHS values.
  • To manage and develop a team of nurses to ensure they have the skills and knowledge to deliver exceptional care.
  • To work collaboratively with other departments to ensure seamless care pathways for patients.
  • To identify areas for improvement and implement changes to enhance patient experience and outcomes.

Person Specification:

  • Adult Registered Nurse qualification.
  • Teaching or coaching qualification.
  • Proven experience in surgical services at a senior level (Band 8a) or substantial experience at band 7 level.
  • Effective leadership skills.
  • Change management or service improvement experience/qualification.

Salary: £70,000 - £80,000 per annum.
