About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Embedded Software Engineer to lead the delivery of electronics projects at OPD. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for strategically developing OPD's firmware and hardware design and development offerings to our clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the delivery of all electronics and embedded software components, ensuring timely and within-budget completion.
  • Develop proposals that accurately reflect the scope and requirements of hardware projects, including timelines, deliverables, and budgets.
  • Lead the technical direction of hardware developments on a wide range of projects, collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure innovative and effective solutions.
  • Manage subcontractor resources and relationships required for specialist development tasks, ensuring seamless integration with our in-house teams.
  • Collaborate with Design and Engineering team colleagues to develop and implement strategic direction for hardware development at OPD, building an infrastructure to support this.
Requirements
  • 5+ years of relevant industry experience, preferably in a product design consultancy or similar industry.
  • Experience with embedded systems design, microcontrollers, and firmware development.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing hardware projects to completion, with a strong understanding of compliance and certification requirements for hardware products.
  • Degree in Electronics or Electrical Engineering.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with clients and colleagues.
Desirable Skills
  • A background in product design and/or engineering, ideally including the development of diagnostic medical devices.
  • Experience of working to ISO 9001 and ISO 13485 standards.
