Job Summary:

Tech Connect Group is seeking a highly skilled Senior Controls Engineer / Automation Systems Lead to join our team in Coventry. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of automation systems across various industries.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical leadership and expertise in the design and implementation of automation systems, ensuring they meet customer and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with project teams, assembly/installation teams, and hardware designers to deliver high-quality, cost-efficient, and right-first-time automation systems.
  • Approve designs for programmable systems, PLCs, HMIs, robots, safety systems, drive systems, vision systems, and SCADA, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and risk assessments.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, including FDS/HDS/SDS documentation, and ensure accurate interpretation of RFQs/URS and internal customer specifications.
  • Support the engineering team in technical feasibility and alignment to project topology and gateway success.
  • Plan resource requirements with the project manager and engineering leader, develop bespoke controls systems milestones, and maintain the design status report of the project.
  • Co-write controls RFQs, technical leveling, commissioning plans, and FAT specifications with the engineering leader and write bespoke elements of the automation summary tracker.
  • Promote and lead Industry 4.0 technologies and practices to support the company's digital strategy and showcase offerings.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience working for machine developers with increasing skill, knowledge, and responsibility level.
  • 2+ years of experience in leading teams of engineers in multiple projects.
  • Good knowledge of a wide range of controls systems and technologies, including Siemens, Rockwell, Beckhoff, ABB, and Cognex.
  • Experience in the manufacturing and assembly of automation processes and an engineering background in automation.
