The Role

We are seeking a highly motivated Protein Biochemist to join our Biologics Development team. As part of our R&D division, you will work collaboratively to develop new chemistries from conception to customers. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, purifying, and analysing key protein components that form the backbone of our RNA and DNA sequencing chemistries.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and express protein variants aimed at improving performance metrics.
  • Purify proteins using chromatographic methods with AKTA systems.
  • Analyse proteins using biochemical and biophysical techniques, such as SDS-PAGE, LC-MS, EMSA, western blot, or fluorescence-based activity assays.
  • Characterise proteins using nanopore based single molecule assays.
  • Robustly analyse data from experiments and report findings to the wider team and division.
  • Design improved protein variants through rational structure-based design and machine learning approaches.

Requirements

  • BSc/Msc in biochemistry, chemistry, or a related field.
  • At least 1 year of independent laboratory experience.
  • Strong attention to detail, high level of organisation, and effective communication skills.
