Paper Finishing Machine Operator

Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled and flexible individual to join our Finishing Department as a Polymer Finishing Operator.
Key Responsibilities:
- To operate various machines, conversion equipment, and ancillary equipment safely and with due regard for the environment.
- To carry out manual packing of sheeted and reeled paper.
- To ensure quality requirements for tasks undertaken are met.
- To produce materials to a high specification free from defects.
Key Activities:
To always act and behave in a way compliant with all De La Rue company guidelines and policies, especially those relating to Environmental Health and Safety, Ethics, and Code of Business Principles.
- To operate various machines, conversion/ancillary equipment, and processes in a safe and proper manner, meeting required production targets.
- Ensure all processes are fully and accurately recorded, entering appropriate data into the Information Systems where required.
- Ensure all defects are removed or flagged and recorded.
- Maintain performance levels at all times; packing materials to required standard procedures.
- To provide accurate stock recording and accurately complete documentation where required.
- Ensure waste levels are minimised.
- Meet production, quality, delivery, continuous improvement, and safety targets in line with the company's KPIs.
- Working to 5S principles, ensuring machines and work areas are kept clean and tidy at all times.
- Supporting the training and development of new/existing employees as required.
- Ensure all Health, Safety, and Environmental procedures are followed at all times, and that employees are encouraged to take responsibility for the health and safety of themselves and others.
Requirements:
- NVQ Level 2/3 or equivalent experience.
- Manufacturing knowledge/experience.
- Good manual dexterity.
- Excellent numerical and literacy skills are essential.
- Attention to detail is paramount; a good team player with a flexible, honest approach, and willingness to learn.
- Good organisational and problem-solving skills.
- Good team player.
Additional Requirements:
- Common sense approach in solving basic problems.
- Knowledge of converting processes or equivalent manufacturing experience.
- Understanding of quality system requirements.
- First few months as a new incumbent to the position will attract training rates of pay until such a time when the employee is formally signed off as proficient and competent.
