NHS Tayside invites applications for a Consultant Nephrologist to join our multidisciplinary Renal team at Ninewells Hospital in Dundee.

The appointee will work alongside seven experienced nephrologists, providing comprehensive renal care for a population of approximately 450,000 across Tayside, Perth and Kinross, and North East Fife. This role offers no General Medicine commitment.

Dundee is the fourth largest city in Scotland, undergoing a large-scale riverside redevelopment. The city boasts a well-established art scene, featuring the internationally renowned Dundee Contemporary Arts Centre and the newly opened Victoria & Albert Design Museum. Excellent transport links connect the city to the north and south, as well as easy access to the rugged coastline of Fife and Angus, and the mountains of Highland Scotland.

Ninewells Hospital is a major teaching hospital, co-located with the University of Dundee Medical School. Our Renal Department actively engages in undergraduate and postgraduate education, and we encourage the successful candidate to fully contribute to this process. Additionally, the department is involved in research, offering opportunities for the appointed consultant to pursue their research interests.

We welcome applications from doctors with appropriate specialist training and experience who are not yet listed on the GMC Specialist Register. Candidates may be considered for a Locum Consultant post (up to 12 months) if no substantive appointment is made. In locum employment, an application can be made to obtain a CESR / CESR (CP) and entry onto the Specialist Register.
