The Role

We are in search of a proficient technical lead with a solid background in developing and delivering reliable, high-performance automotive-grade software for distributed, advanced computing devices. As a vital member of the onboard Software Platform team, you will collaborate within an engineering group to deliver software for edge devices that reliably provide data, experimentation, validation, and autonomy across a large fleet of vehicles. In this capacity, you will be responsible for architecting software solutions to integrate our machine learning-based autonomous driving technology into an automotive L2-L3 system application. This role is highly visible, offering extensive technical leadership within a rapidly expanding team and organization.

Expected Impact

As a Technical Lead for Embedded Automotive Software, you will be instrumental in developing and deploying software that underpins the operation of an advanced end-to-end AI model for autonomous driving. You will spearhead key technical initiatives and ensure the robustness, compliance, and performance of our automotive embedded systems, which are essential to our autonomous vehicle solutions. Your responsibilities will include tackling complex technical challenges and collaborating with multiple teams to achieve significant program milestones in the automotive domain.

Challenges You Will Own

  • Technical Program Leadership: Independently oversee extensive areas of embedded software development and critical automotive projects. Ensure timely delivery by effectively managing requirements, technical risks, development strategies, milestones, and dependencies, with a strong emphasis on safety and compliance.
  • Software Architecture Design: Architect and develop software solutions to integrate our machine learning-based autonomous driving technology into an automotive L2-L3 system application. Ensure seamless integration with OEM software environments to facilitate full sensor integration and data capture at the necessary scale and quality for a fully autonomous vehicle.
  • Collaborative Development: Partner closely with cross-functional teams, including machine learning engineers, software developers, system engineers, and product managers, to define and refine the software architecture.
  • Compliance and Safety: Work alongside safety and functional safety teams to ensure the software architecture adheres to ISO 26262 functional safety standards and other relevant regulations. Assist the team in implementing ASPICE-compliant processes.
  • Code Base Management: Maintain a robust, compliant, and scalable code base for embedded systems, promoting rapid development and future scalability.
  • Real-Time System Management: Deliver and sustain real-time Linux-based and QNX-based applications for a fleet of embedded devices in vehicles, encompassing data collection, storage, and machine learning inference at the edge.
  • Fault Tolerance and Diagnostics: Develop and implement fault-tolerant software solutions with comprehensive system diagnostics to swiftly identify and resolve issues in deployed automotive systems.
  • Mentorship and Cultural Development: Provide guidance to engineers, fostering their professional growth. Actively lead forums such as design reviews and architecture planning to cultivate a culture of engineering excellence and compliance.

What We Are Looking For in Our Candidate

Essential

  • Proven Experience: Extensive experience in developing and deploying safety-critical automotive embedded software in C++ for automotive products, with a demonstrated history of leading large technical programs and teams.
  • ASPICE Compliance: Deep understanding and experience with ASPICE-compliant Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) processes.
  • AUTOSAR Expertise: Proficiency in creating embedded software using the AUTOSAR architecture.
  • Leadership Skills: Strong leadership capabilities, adept at guiding cross-functional teams and projects. Excellent collaboration skills across divisions and effective stakeholder engagement.
  • Communication Skills: Proficient communication skills, capable of articulating complex technical and business concepts to a diverse audience.
  • Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

Desirable

  • Language Expertise: Proficiency in both C++ and Rust for embedded software development.
  • Advanced Degree: A Master's degree or higher in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.

  • Autonomous Driving: Experience with L2-L3 autonomous driving applications and integrating machine learning-based autonomous driving solutions into automotive systems.
  • Safety Standards: Familiarity with ISO 26262 functional safety standards.

We recognize that each individual possesses a unique blend of skills and experiences, and not everyone will meet all the specified requirements. If you are passionate about self-driving technology and believe you can make a meaningful impact, we encourage you to consider this opportunity.

This is a full-time position that offers a hybrid working policy, combining collaborative time in our offices and workshops with remote work to foster innovation, culture, relationships, and learning.
