The Role:

We are seeking an experienced Database Administrator to join our team at Fisher German. As a key member of our Systems team, you will be responsible for the day-to-day lifecycle management of our core system databases.

Your focus will be on ensuring the smooth operation of our data landscape, including the design, implementation, and maintenance of databases, data warehouses, and related systems. You will work closely with our development team to identify areas for optimization and implement solutions to improve database performance and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintaining and monitoring existing databases
  • Creating new data repositories as needed
  • Developing innovative approaches to storing data via warehousing
  • Managing update processes and creating data backups
  • Restoring lost data
  • Helping to model data for new applications
  • Developing and maintaining procedures and documentation for databases
  • Identifying and evaluating database administration tools and processes
  • Maintaining and managing the data dictionary
  • Implementing a security-first approach to storing and retrieving data
  • Monitoring database activity and resource usage
  • Building test versions and testing
  • Designing efficient queries for analytics and reporting
  • Identifying areas for optimization

Requirements:

  • Experience with database administration and design
  • Knowledge of relational and non-relational database architectures
  • Ability to maintain and develop self-hosted and DBaaS Cloud databases
  • Experience with data warehouse solutions
  • Knowledge of structured query languages and NoSQL technologies
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
