Job Title: Medical Virology Consultant Position

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Virology Consultant to join our team at Barts Health NHS Trust. The successful candidate will work alongside consultant colleagues to provide a comprehensive consultant Virology service for all the Barts Health sites and those sites for which Barts Health holds SLAs.

Main Duties:

  • Provide a comprehensive consultant Virology service for all the Barts Health sites and those sites for which Barts Health holds SLAs.
  • Work alongside consultant colleagues to deliver diagnostic, clinical, stewardship, and infection prevention and control services to patients, staff, and local general practitioners.
  • Deliver departmental teaching activity, including training of clinical scientists and specialist registrars in Medical Virology, Medical Microbiology, and Infectious Diseases.

Requirements:

  • Registerable medical qualification (MBChB, MBBS, or equivalent).
  • FRCPath (UK) or show evidence of equivalent qualification.
  • Full and Specialist registration in Medical Virology or Medical Microbiology (with license to practice) with the General Medical Council or be eligible for specialist registration within 3 months of interview.
  • Ability to apply research outcomes to clinical problems.
