Job Title: Environmental Health and Safety Manager

Our client, a leading food manufacturer, is seeking an experienced Environmental Health and Safety Manager to join their team on a permanent basis.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide strategic support to the business in planning, measuring, reviewing, and auditing environmental health and safety activities to meet legal requirements.
  • Develop and implement minimum standards of environmental health and safety practices and advise management on best practices within the industry.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of business performance and achieve and maintain an appropriate recognized standard of competency.
  • Collaborate with the management team to identify hazards and eliminate and control risks.
  • Develop and implement a suitable and effective site audit program and undertake site audits to ensure the safety management system remains effective.
  • Stay up-to-date with new environmental health and safety legislation, company, and other environmental and safety information and brief the management team accordingly.
  • Establish lines of communication with local enforcement agencies and emergency services.
  • Attend Health and Safety Committee Meetings and provide training for the committee as needed.
  • Work with the HR Manager to identify health and safety training needs and participate in such training as appropriate.
  • Assist the HR Manager in monitoring the effectiveness of the safety management system.
  • Coordinate all matters relating to fire precautions and other emergency matters.
  • Coordinate the Group Health, Safety, and Fire Audit and other relevant site EHS audits.
Requirements:
  • Minimum NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent - CMIOSH preferred.
  • Sound background in and experience of health, safety, and environmental requirements within food manufacturing production environments.
