Our client, a leading food manufacturer, is seeking an experienced Environmental Health and Safety Manager to join their team on a permanent basis.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide strategic support to the business in planning, measuring, reviewing, and auditing environmental health and safety activities to meet legal requirements.
- Develop and implement minimum standards of environmental health and safety practices and advise management on best practices within the industry.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of business performance and achieve and maintain an appropriate recognized standard of competency.
- Collaborate with the management team to identify hazards and eliminate and control risks.
- Develop and implement a suitable and effective site audit program and undertake site audits to ensure the safety management system remains effective.
- Stay up-to-date with new environmental health and safety legislation, company, and other environmental and safety information and brief the management team accordingly.
- Establish lines of communication with local enforcement agencies and emergency services.
- Attend Health and Safety Committee Meetings and provide training for the committee as needed.
- Work with the HR Manager to identify health and safety training needs and participate in such training as appropriate.
- Assist the HR Manager in monitoring the effectiveness of the safety management system.
- Coordinate all matters relating to fire precautions and other emergency matters.
- Coordinate the Group Health, Safety, and Fire Audit and other relevant site EHS audits.
- Minimum NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent - CMIOSH preferred.
- Sound background in and experience of health, safety, and environmental requirements within food manufacturing production environments.
