About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant Breast Surgeon to join our team at the University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust.

Key Responsibilities
  • To provide high-quality Consultant Breast services, including outpatient clinics and theatre lists, to support the symptomatic, screening, and reconstruction Breast Service in Leicester.
  • To provide prospective 1 in 8 on-call cover for Breast emergencies only.
  • To ensure the provision of excellent standards of practice and care, as prescribed in the GMC's Good Medical Practice and the RCS England's Good Surgical Practice guidance at all times.
  • To ensure that specialist clinical practice is both effective and efficient, and that appropriate monitoring of clinical care takes place by actively participating in audit.
  • To provide continuing responsibility for the care of patients in their charge, and for the proper organisation and functioning of their clinical practice.
  • To support and take joint responsibility for the clinical work of other members of the multidisciplinary team.
  • To supervise and teach undergraduates and postgraduate trainees and healthcare workers that rotate through the department.
  • To take responsibility for ensuring that critical clinical incidents, as defined by the Trust's Critical Incident Policy, are reported in a timely manner.
  • To work co-operatively with other specialties, departments, and outside agencies in contributing to meet the objectives of the Clinical Management Group (CMG).

      • Full GMC Registration
      • FRCS (Gen) or equivalent
      • MRCP/MRCS or Equivalent
      • Fully Accredited for Higher Specialist Training or will be eligible for inclusion on the Specialist Register within 6 months of the interview date.
    • Desirable
      • Membership of relevant Specialist Societies or Associations.
  • Experience / Clinical Skills
    • Essential
      • Considerable clinical experience and trained in Breast & Reconstructive Surgery
      • Excellent clinical skills and experience requisite to meeting all aspects of the Job Plan.

      • Evidence of clinical or research commitment and a relevant specialty interest.

    • Essential
      • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and supervise juniors.
