Job Title: Cost Estimator

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Cost Estimator to join our team at Boccard UK Limited. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing comprehensive build cost estimates, analyzing drawings and specifications, and participating in design development to assess buildability, materials, innovation, and cost effectiveness of proposals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare analytical cost estimates and tenders for large-scale projects
  • Research the cost of materials, transport, labor, and equipment to ensure the best price and quality
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure accurate and competitive prices from external suppliers or sub-contractors
  • Coordinate costs and compile quotation documents and packages for submission to customers
  • Write tender documents and prepare tender packs
  • Manage post-bid submissions and organize responses to requests for clarification
  • Liaise with the management team to ensure quotations reflect agreements made with customers
  • Analyze drawings, specifications, and other documentation to prepare comprehensive build cost estimates
  • Participate in design development to assess buildability, materials, innovation, and cost effectiveness of proposals
  • Commercial awareness of contractual terms, particularly for NEC contracts
  • Knowledgeable about lump sum, cost reimbursable, cost-plus, unit price, and target cost estimating
  • Monitor costs at different stages of a project to ensure it stays within estimated costs
  • Manage commercial risk on tenders to ensure risks are identified early and either eliminated or managed appropriately

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in a similar role leading cost estimating related services on large-scale and complex projects
  • Qualification in civil/structural engineering, mechanical engineering, or business management with relevant experience
  • Commercial and contract expertise, with strong IT skills, and the ability to communicate and influence key stakeholders
