About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Scientist II to join our NGS/Next Generation Sequencing team at Yourgene Health. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, verifying, and validating in vitro diagnostic products and services based on next-generation sequencing platforms.

As a Scientist II, you will work closely with our team to maintain research operations, plan and execute experiments, analyze and document results, and provide scientific expertise on development projects. You will also contribute to the daily maintenance and running of our laboratory environments, ensuring a safe and efficient working environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop in vitro diagnostic products and services for use in various applications.
  • Execute laboratory operations, including planning, execution, analysis, and documentation of experiments.
  • Contribute to the daily maintenance and running of laboratory environments.
  • Work collaboratively with teams to create high-quality products and processes meeting key user needs.
  • Provide scientific expertise and input into experiments and project work-packages.
  • Lead planning, execution, and reporting of defined project experiments and work-packages.
  • Support cross-functional collaboration and lead projects as needed.
  • Create, maintain, and improve laboratory SOPs and systems.
  • Lead troubleshooting activities when technical issues arise.
  • Ensure quality and regulatory requirements are met, including compliance to SOPs and documentation.
Requirements
  • Degree or further degree in a life science, such as molecular biology, biochemistry, or genetics.
  • Typically 5+ years of relevant experience in the development, verification, and validation of molecular diagnostic assays.
  • Hands-on experience with at least two molecular biology-based assays and techniques.
  • Capable of independently performing experimental design and execution.
  • Strong data analysis and interpretation skills.
  • Ability to think analytically and troubleshoot.
  • Experience with laboratory processes, including DNA extraction, Real-Time PCR, and Next Generation Sequencing.
  • Experience using various NGS platforms, preferably spanning both long read and short read technologies.
