The successful candidate will be responsible for defining project scope, preparing cost estimates, developing programme schedules, and ensuring quality standards and performance benefits. They will also ensure adherence to best practice project management and compliance with brilliant execution requirements.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join our Supply Chain Excellence Team and contribute to the delivery of major utilities capital projects.

About You:
  • You have significant experience in a technical utilities department
  • You have experience scoping and delivering large utilities capital projects
  • You possess deep experience in project management execution processes
  • You have strong commercial awareness and expertise in UK Engineering Contracts, particularly JCT and MF1
  • You have contractor health and safety management skills
Key Responsibilities:
  1. Utilities Investment and Optimisation Strategy:
    • Collaborate with site operational teams to understand site Masterplans and develop a comprehensive utilities investment and optimisation strategy for each site
    • Work within the supply chain capital plan to align with available Capex
    • Utilize robust project management principles covering safety, cost, schedule management, performance delivery, risk management, scope definition, environmental impact, and procurement
    • Deliver capital proposals that support the business in line with the current Annual Operating Plan (AOP)
  2. Management of Major Utilities Projects:
    • Oversee major and strategic utilities projects, including managing third-party vendors, contractors, and equipment suppliers
    • Act as the key interface between the business and engineering/construction teams, ensuring all change requests and modifications are processed appropriately
    • Deliver projects on time, within budget, and meeting performance targets, leveraging strong supplier relationship and contract management skills
  3. Resource Prioritisation and Stakeholder Management:
    • Prioritise resources effectively, working as the project team representative with all stakeholders to ensure that key project objectives are achieved
    • Manage project technicians, craftsmen, and contract project managers assigned to the project, ensuring efficient use of resources and clear communication of progress
  4. Process Shutdown and Restart Management
    • Manage the safe shutdown, modification, and restart of processes with minimal impact on production targets and schedules
    • Ensure full compliance with legal requirements throughout the project lifecycle, from planning to execution
  5. Post-Project Benefits Monitoring and Documentation:
    • Lead the monitoring, analysis, and verification of project benefits upon completion, ensuring performance guarantees are met
    • Ensure all new processes are thoroughly documented with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and that appropriate training is delivered to personnel involved in the operation and maintenance of new systems
