Job Title: Senior Technician Application Support

Job Summary:

EMW is seeking a highly skilled Senior Technician Application Support to join our team. As a key member of our technical support team, you will be responsible for providing expert-level support for a variety of command and control Information Systems in support of Maritime Command HQ (MARCOM) and NATO flagships.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide support for Flagship handovers, including deployment to geographical locations and working in small confined spaces.
  • Install, configure, and set-to-work servers on board NATO flagships.
  • Perform day-to-day system administration of hardware and software for currently fielded systems.
  • Execute preventive maintenance plans under senior section member guidance.
  • Ensure technical and service-oriented documentation is prepared, stored, and kept up-to-date.
  • Report Configuration Control data properly and in a timely manner.
  • Provide technical guidance on assigned hardware and software to other technicians.
  • Lead troubleshooting efforts on assigned systems as required.
  • Assist with system fault resolution to the Centralised Service Desk.
  • Provide technical advice to other staff for all aspects of supported systems.
  • Perform beta testing of new system software versions and provide feedback to the System Manager.
  • Maintain close liaison with other technicians and engineers.
  • Stay abreast of technological developments relevant to the area of work.

Requirements:

Skill, Knowledge & Experience:

  • Currently active NATO COSMIC TOP SECRET security clearance.
  • Higher vocational training in a relevant discipline with 3 years post-related experience or secondary educational qualification with 5 years post-related experience.
  • At least 5 years experience in administering, testing, and deploying applications at both server and user levels.
  • At least 5 years recent experience with functional applications within Windows and UNIX in a large-scale service-oriented environment.
  • Knowledge of database principles, experience in database administration, and SQL.
  • Experience in Incident and Problem Management.
  • Experience of working within a customer support environment.
  • Maritime C2 Systems training courses or experience working with Maritime C2 Systems.
  • Good general working knowledge of IT hardware and auxiliary computer equipment.
  • Experience of Configuration Management and Service Asset Management.
  • Knowledge of current Windows and UNIX/LINUX operating systems and common Windows desktop applications.

Desirable:

  • Prior experience working in an international environment comprising both military and civilian elements.
  • Knowledge of NATO responsibilities and organisation, including ACO and ACT.
  • ITIL Foundation knowledge/ITIL certificate.
  • Knowledge of mainstream ICT.
