Phlebotomist

We are seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Phlebotomist to join our team at Ventnor Medical Practice. As a Phlebotomist, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care by collecting blood samples from patients in a safe and efficient manner.

• Perform venepuncture to obtain blood samples from patients under the direct supervision of the lead practice nurse and in accordance with specific practice guidelines and protocols.
• Ensure that patients are comfortable and relaxed during the blood collection process and confirm their agreement to the collection of a blood sample.
• Collect and store blood samples in appropriate containers, accurately labeling them to confirm patient identity.
• Dispatch blood samples to the appropriate laboratories in a timely fashion.
• Report any anomalies or issues to a senior member of staff and notify the GP/Practitioner of any significant patient issues.
• Liaise with and assist members of the administrative team as needed.

• Relevant qualification in venepuncture.
• Good standard of general education.
• Excellent communication skills (written and oral).
• Clear, polite telephone manner.
• Effective time management (planning and organizing).
• Ability to work as a team member and autonomously.
• Good interpersonal skills.
• Ability to follow clinical policy and procedure.
