The Opportunity
As an Occupational Health Advisor, you'll play a critical role in supporting the health and safety of our employees and customers. You'll work closely with our medical centers in Liverpool, Crewe, and Manchester, and occasionally visit customer sites, to provide expert advice and guidance on occupational health matters.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with customers and internal stakeholders to provide support and guidance on occupational health issues, including case management, health surveillance, and wellbeing services.
- Conduct health surveillance and medical assessments, including safety-critical medicals and train driver medical assessments.
- Provide advice to managers and HR on staff who are unable to perform their duties due to health reasons, while adhering to customer policies.
- Assist in risk assessments related to health matters affecting employees and provide recommendations for improvement.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest legislation and best practices in occupational health.
- Work with our head office to increase the utilization of our occupational health services in the region.
- Participate in network learning opportunities, complete performance-related clinical goals, and contribute to the development of clinical innovations.
Requirements
- Degree, Diploma, or Certificate in Occupational Health, with evidence of ongoing professional development.
- Qualifications in Hand Arm Vibration and experience in collecting samples for drug and alcohol testing using chain of custody protocols are desirable.
- Ability to conduct medicals/surveillance, including audiometry, spirometry, skin assessment, HAVS, and safety-critical medicals.
- Experience in the Rail industry to undertake Train Driver Medicals, with additional in-house training.
- Ability to conduct case management assessments face-to-face and remotely.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with HR, Health & Safety professionals, and occupational health partners.
- Ability to identify key health issues and contribute to the development of procedures and solutions.
- Ability to travel between sites, with business insurance.
- Proficiency in Microsoft and Excel software.
