Postdoctoral Research Scholar

We are seeking a highly skilled Postdoctoral Research Scholar to join our team at Norfolk State University. The successful candidate will conduct research in the area of biophotonics, focusing on designing microfluidic devices for on-chip laser tweezers and traps, and conducting surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) for identifying breast cancer cells.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and demonstrate new approaches for system integration to improve accuracy, efficiency, scalability, and automation of the optofluidic sensing platform.
- Conduct research in biophotonics, focusing on microfluidic devices and SERS imaging.
- Collaborate across disciplines to ensure successful completion of research tasks.
- Publish research findings in reputable journals and conference proceedings.
- Ph.D. in engineering or physical sciences in optics/photonics, biosensing, bioelectrics, or related fields.
- Demonstrated expertise in Raman spectroscopy/SERS imaging, microfluidics, and micro/nano-fabrication.
- Prior experience in micro/nano fabrication in a cleanroom and handling of cleanroom equipment.
- Ability to quickly learn, analyze, and implement innovative biosensing applications/systems.
- Creativity and analytical skills.
