Position Title: Finance Manager for Card Issuing Operations

Reporting to: Global Head of Finance - Products

Work Arrangement: Hybrid

Objective of the Role

This pivotal role within the Travelex Finance division is designed to enhance our regulated card initiatives. The individual will oversee and manage financial responsibilities in accordance with regulatory standards and card scheme stipulations, while day-to-day operations will be handled by our program manager or offshore team members.

The ideal candidate will be a proactive Finance Manager with a background in prepaid or Fintech card services. Key responsibilities will include managing card scheme settlements, overseeing reconciliations, and ensuring accurate financial reporting.

As a Finance expert in card issuance, you will provide essential support on various projects and challenges, guiding colleagues to ensure compliance and operational support for card products.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Oversight

  • Monitoring and managing working capital effectively.
  • Overseeing card load values with issuing banks, including aggregate amounts, clearance timelines, prefunding necessities, and associated fees.
  • Ensuring meticulous tracking and reconciliation of customer funds by currency, addressing any surplus or deficit.
  • Monitoring transaction activities across issuing and Mastercard networks, identifying chargebacks, fees, and relevant costs.
  • Optimizing cash management between banks and payment providers.
  • Effectively managing foreign exchange financial exposures.
  • Ensuring timely and accurate fulfillment of all regulatory and card scheme financial obligations.
  • Leading the budget preparation and reforecasting for the card issuing entity.
  • Collaborating with the offshore general ledger team to review monthly actuals against budgets and forecasts, ensuring relevant KPIs and SLAs are monitored.
  • Preparing monthly management reporting packs for business and product team reviews, including insightful commentary.
  • Identifying enhancements to Travelex reporting standards, processes, and systems.
  • Managing all finance-related inquiries concerning card issuance and program management.
  • Acting as the Finance Lead on all card issuance projects and initiatives.
  • Providing support to the offshore finance team.
  • Ensuring timely completion of statutory accounts and year-end audits.

Relationship Management

  • Building and maintaining relationships across various functions within Travelex.
  • Partnering with the Cards business team.
  • Serving as the Finance Subject Matter Expert for card issuance, providing financial, commercial, and regulatory insights.
  • Assisting colleagues in navigating financial obligations related to card issuance.

Management Information

  • Delivering accurate, timely, and relevant management information analysis to support business decision-making.
  • Collaborating with the business to identify and meet their management information needs.
  • Developing reporting systems and processes aligned with overall business strategy.

Communication

Proactively communicating and seeking feedback from colleagues and stakeholders.

Essential Qualifications

  • Possession of a relevant accounting qualification (ACCA/CIMA/ACA).
  • Proven experience in the card payment sector, preferably within prepaid/Fintech or e-money.
  • Familiarity with regulatory and card scheme financial obligations.
  • Understanding of fund sweeping and pooling for payment processing and settlement.
  • Knowledge of Conduct Risk and Consumer Duty.
  • Experience in modeling and conducting ad hoc analysis of card programs.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel.
  • Strong analytical capabilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with multi-currency products.
  • Familiarity with regulatory audits and interviews.
  • Knowledge of Open Banking and Straight Through Payment Processing.
