Job Title: Nursery Chef
Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Nursery Chef to join our team at Blue Arrow - Southampton. As a key member of our kitchen team, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of the nursery kitchen to the highest standards, ensuring a healthy and balanced diet for all children.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the nursery kitchen to ensure high standards of food hygiene and safety.
- Plan, organize, cook, and prepare a varied and interesting diet for all children, taking into account differing allergies, dietary requirements, and cultural and religious needs.
- Order adequate supplies, manage inventory, and maintain correct storage procedures.
- Coordinate the preparation and serving of meals and snacks, ensuring a high level of hygiene and cleanliness is observed at all times.
- Complete kitchen risk assessments, checks, and documentation, and have clear knowledge of procedures to be followed in case of emergency.
- Work closely with the Nursery Manager to ensure compliance with health and safety legislation, fire regulations, and all policies and procedures.
- Provide training and support to cover staff to ensure high standards are maintained in your absence.
- Stay up-to-date with food-related issues affecting the catering industry and implement best practices in the nursery.
Requirements:
- Proven experience in a similar role, preferably in a nursery or childcare setting.
- Strong knowledge of food hygiene and safety procedures, including environmental health requirements and legislation.
- Ability to plan and organize menus, manage inventory, and maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with children, staff, and management.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a flexible approach to working hours and duties.
