About the Role

As an Automation Engineer at Amazon UK Services Ltd., you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our automated systems. Your expertise will be instrumental in optimizing our processes, maximizing equipment availability, and driving productivity.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor and troubleshoot issues with key systems to ensure minimal downtime and maximum efficiency.
  • Collaborate with the EU Controls network to monitor Material Handling Equipment (MHE) metrics and provide data visualizations to internal stakeholders.
  • Develop and implement continuous improvement projects to enhance system performance and efficiency.
  • Work with various departments to ensure accurate documentation and maintenance of systems.
  • Support global colleagues in installing and commissioning new equipment.
  • Interpret mechanical and electrical drawings to develop improvement strategies for code compliance.
A Day in the Life

As an Automation Engineer, you will be the site expert for keeping key automated systems running smoothly. You will work with our automation machinery, from conveyors to sortation systems, to ensure they are operating efficiently. If an issue arises or there is an opportunity for improvement, you will take the lead in developing and implementing a solution.

About the Team

The Customer Fulfilment team is the backbone of Amazon's operations, handling over 1.5 million orders every day. As an Automation Engineer, you will be part of a team that is passionate about innovation and excellence.

Requirements
  • A UK Higher National Diploma (HND), Higher National Certificate (HNC), BTEC National Diploma and Certificate (OND/D), NVQ III/IV/V Engineering Manufacture (or similar), Ieng, CEng, ILM L3+ or a fully accredited apprenticeship with relevant follow-on qualifications.
  • Relevant experience with PLC-controlled automation and issue diagnosis in a continuous process or production environment.
  • Relevant experience supporting different conveyors and sortation systems.
  • Relevant experience dealing with material handling, flow, and capacity visualization, and monitoring.
  • Experience with at least one of the following tools: Microsoft Office, project management tools, and EPLAN.
