Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Support Tutor to join our team at Barraclough School, supporting students with SEN in a safe and inclusive environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To support the improvement of wellbeing, readiness for learning, resilience, and behaviour management within our school
  • Work with members of the Education team to support young people's personal and academic development by removing barriers to learning
  • To promote positive learning behaviour with young people
  • To lead classes during PPA and absence cover, with planning supported by teaching staff
  • To deliver an enrichment golden time activity
  • To support in lessons with academic understanding or pastoral, emotional, or behavioural need
  • To respond to immediate concerns clarifying the situation
  • To create and collate information relating to lessons and interventions delivered
  • To assist in the preparation of information relevant to meetings about pupils
  • To be an advocate for the ethos of our school
  • To lead on Reading and Phonics, reviewing progress made by young people
  • To develop the role of Pupil Voice, liaising with SLT about the Pupil Council
  • To develop relationships with parents/carers, taking an active role in transitions and consultation visits

Requirements

Strong Basic Education: A minimum of GCSE Grade C or equivalent in English Language and Mathematics, and sound IT skills.

Previous Experience: Previous experience in a similar role, such as HLTA, and some previous experience of working with pupils with SEMH within an educational setting.

Additional Requirements: Be experienced and confident enough to take additional responsibility in an area of school, such as Food Hygiene, Forest School, Lunchtimes, or School Yoga.

Salary and Benefits

Basic Salary: £24,000 FTE (Full-Time Equivalent)
