About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Development Manager to join our team at the Diocese of London. As a key member, you will play a crucial role in securing the future of our historic churches by identifying funding opportunities and developing innovative projects.

In this position, you will have the unique opportunity to collaborate with parishes, community groups, heritage organisations, local authorities, and funding bodies to create sustainable projects and secure vital funding. You will work closely with colleagues across the Diocese to embed a culture of entrepreneurship and provide vital support and advice to Incumbents and Parish Church Council (PCC) members.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive development strategy to preserve and restore historic churches.
  • Build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders, including local authorities, trusts, foundations, and the National Lottery.
  • Work closely with parish teams to identify potential partnerships and funding opportunities.
  • Drive place-based funding approaches to deliver projects that benefit both the churches and the communities they serve.
  • Manage complex multi-funder profiles for capital projects and activity programmes, ensuring long-term sustainability and impact.

About You

We are looking for an all-round development professional with a proven track record of successfully managing projects with complex multi-funder profiles. You will have:

  • Experience in designing and delivering large-scale development projects, ideally within the heritage or community sector.
  • A strong understanding of relevant trusts, foundations, and funding bodies, with experience of securing substantial funding for projects.
  • A strategic mindset and the ability to think creatively to bring together multiple funding sources and partners.
  • Excellent relationship-building skills, with a proven ability to engage a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • A passion for historic buildings, community engagement, and sustainability.
