Job Title: Associate Director, Data Governance

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Associate Director to join our team at Haxby Group (Hull) as Associate Director, Data Governance. This is an exciting opportunity to lead our governance team and play a key role in ensuring compliance with corporate governance, clinical governance, and risk management.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Support the Director of Clinical Governance and lead the governance team on all aspects of clinical governance and audit, including risk management, safeguarding, and infection control.
  2. Support the Chief Operating Officer in ensuring compliance with corporate governance, including Health and Safety, Information Governance, Equality, and sustainability.
  3. Utilise advanced specialist knowledge to establish robust audit tools and demonstrate compliance with statutory and mandatory requirements.
  4. Work with the governance team to develop and improve clinical governance strategies and support the development of governance planning throughout the organisation.
  5. Ensure effective arrangements are in place for the regular review and continuous improvement of the corporate governance strategy.
  6. Undertake horizon scanning and review/analyse new regulatory corporate governance-related developments, advising senior managers and the Operational Board as necessary.
  7. Implement and lead on improvement projects focusing on areas of poor compliance of clinical and non-clinical standards, high-risk areas, and common trends.
  8. Support senior managers and clinicians in the management of complex complaints and significant events, including Root Cause Analysis.
  9. Provide a leadership style that is underpinned by strongly held values around equality, diversity, and openness, and effectively build and maintain relationships with direct reports, management team, and other key individuals across the organisation.
  10. Deputise for and support the Director of Clinical Governance within your scope.
  11. Demonstrate clinical leadership, initiative, and creativity in developing a broad range of projects or plans and inspiring others to be positive in their contribution to continuous improvement and innovation.
  12. Clearly articulate the expected clinical standards of the service, monitor and identify where standards are not met, and take action to address this, holding people to account where necessary.
  13. Demonstrate leadership and innovation in contexts which are unfamiliar, complex, and unpredictable that require solving problems involving many complex interacting factors.
  14. Delegate, organise, and prioritise to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and best practice.
  15. Demonstrate effective communication skills and continually reflect on and evaluate outcomes of change management.
  16. By actively participating or leading multi-discipline teams, propose and develop quality improvement projects that reflect the strategic aims and priorities of the organisation.
  17. Demonstrate resilience when responding to challenge, change, and complex or difficult situations.
  18. Provide managerial supervision, support, and professional leadership.
  19. Apply policies, standards, and guidance.
  20. Participate in recruitment and selection processes as required.
  21. Monitor records in line with protocol.

Organisational Responsibilities:

  1. Work with Directors, operational managers, and multidisciplinary teams to continually improve the quality of service delivery within the overall organisational governance frameworks, reflecting the corporate objectives.
  2. Implement, monitor, and maintain agreed standards of care using a range of evidence and data sources to identify where improvements are needed.
  3. Develop and implement policies and guidelines relevant to service area and ensure team members and wider organisation are aware of policy requirements.
  4. Maintain oversight of clinical audit ensuring that action plans are implemented.
  5. Identify, manage, and minimise risks within the overall organisational risk management frameworks supporting other staff to contribute to the process.
  6. Assist with the gathering of statistics and information.
  7. Maintain accurate and complete documentation and records utilising electronic systems as appropriate and in accordance with Haxby Group protocol.
  8. Follow agreed protocols, referring to senior colleagues for guidance when required.
  9. Maintain the ethos and culture of Haxby Group.
  10. Positively promote Haxby Group.
  11. Ensure rationalisation of resources.
  12. Assist in enhanced and extended services to grow the professional offerings of the organisation.
  13. Attend in-house governance, educational, and staff meetings as appropriate.
  14. Help plan, develop, and support the introduction of new working processes to optimise quality.
  15. Train staff to attain optimum performance.
  16. Build and maintain relationships with other healthcare professionals, including GPs, GP surgery personnel, care home personnel, ICB personnel, etc.
  17. Always behave in a professional manner.
