Building Control Surveyor Job Description
**Job Summary**
We are partnering with a Local Authority in Somerset to recruit a Building Control Surveyor for a three-month rolling contract. This is a full-time position with an hourly rate of £60.00 per hour via an umbrella company.
**Key Responsibilities**
* Ensure the organisation meets its statutory duty of enforcing Building Regulations within all construction projects
* Examine deposited plans for compliance with Building Regulations and Building Act requirements, conduct consultations with applicants, professional agents, and consultative bodies, negotiate amendments, and recommend approval or refusal
* Provide pre-application advice to enquiries in relation to projects
* Conduct site inspections of works in progress for compliance with Building Regulations under Full Plans, Building Notice, and Regularisation procedures
* Produce and maintain electronic records of site works, including the production of letters, notifications, reports, completion certificates, and other documents on the document storage system
* Attend emergency callouts, responding to requests from Emergency Services, determining the scale and nature of emergency measures to make them and the public safe, including issuing Statutory and demolition notices
**Requirements**
* Degree, HNC, or degree equivalent in a construction-related discipline
* Full UK driving licence
* Hybrid working
* Flexible working days
