Key Responsibilities:

  • Team Management: Manage a team of 5-6 planners and oversee around 40 trucks, ensuring effective performance and development of the team.
  • Interface and Efficiency: Ensure a seamless interface between all areas of the transport operation to maximize efficiency and productivity.
  • Customer and Haulier Communication: Be the first point of contact for customers and hauliers, focusing on excellent customer satisfaction and communication.
  • Compliance: Ensure full compliance with transport legislation, health & safety regulations, and statutory company standards.
  • Operational Improvement: Propose and implement changes to improve operational efficiency, service levels, and performance outcomes.
  • Leadership: Lead a team of approximately 80 drivers alongside the planning team, ensuring KPIs related to compliance, service, and financial targets are consistently met.
  • Communication: Maintain clear and effective communication across the transport operation, ensuring all team members are aligned with company objectives.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 5+ years of Transport Management Experience: Minimum 5+ years of transport management experience (UK), ideally within a multi-site logistics environment.
  • Air Freight Sector Knowledge: A solid working knowledge of the airfreight distribution sector is essential.
  • National/International CPC Qualification: National/International CPC qualification is mandatory.
  • Team Development and Leadership: Proven ability to motivate, manage, and develop teams, with experience in a similar logistics operation highly desirable.
  • Excellent Communication Skills: Excellent communicator at all levels, capable of building strong relationships across the business and with external partners.
  • Customer Focus: A focus on delivering high-quality service and exceeding customer expectations.
  • Commercial Awareness: Commercially focused with a drive for achieving KPIs, ensuring compliance, and optimizing operational performance.
