Industrial Manufacturing Specialist - Engineering and Production

Location: West Midlands - Permanent Position - Competitive Salary

An Industrial Manufacturing Specialist is sought to join a prominent International Engineering and Production firm that specializes in the design, fabrication, assembly, testing, and commissioning of industrial systems. The successful candidate will report directly to the Engineering Manager for Manufacturing. This role offers a diverse range of responsibilities, providing essential technical expertise from the design phase through to the final stages of production.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Advise on the most effective manufacturing techniques for components and assemblies.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and quality specifications using a systematic approach.
  • Create manufacturing documentation, including inspection and testing protocols.
  • Distribute clear manufacturing instructions through detailed route cards.
  • Develop route cards with precise timing for production tasks.
  • Participate in design reviews to assess drawings and plans.
  • Provide accurate manufacturing instructions to optimize productivity.
  • Manage and update manufacturing data within production control and MRP systems.
  • Identify inefficiencies and non-value-adding activities, proposing changes to enhance processes.
  • Support the bidding process and formulation of manufacturing strategies.
  • Document non-conformance reports and assist in their resolution.
  • Employ methodologies such as 5 Whys, DMAIC, and root cause analysis for ongoing improvements.
  • Maintain and update manufacturing drawings, documentation, and quality standards.

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience Required:

  • Experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles.
  • Understanding of processes including Electrical, Control & Instrumentation, Mechanical/Electrical Assembly, or Welding.
  • Knowledge of various materials and welding techniques.
  • Insight into how processes impact different materials and strategies to prevent defects.
  • Awareness of inspection processes and their influence on design accuracy.
  • Ability to interpret technical engineering drawings and provide comprehensive manufacturing instructions.
  • Capability to produce components or assemblies that meet quality standards.
  • Strong communication skills for conveying clear instructions to diverse audiences.
  • Organized and methodical approach to reviewing designs and offering manufacturability insights.
  • Ability to create manufacturing instructions for various stakeholders including planners and quality engineers.
  • Commitment to a culture of right-first-time manufacturing and overall process improvement.
  • Proficient in IT for internal systems and technical documentation.
  • Customer-focused mindset with an emphasis on safety, quality, cost efficiency, and continuous improvement.
  • A positive attitude and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Note: Security Clearance (SC) will be necessary due to the nature of the products involved, thus only eligible candidates will be considered.
