Operations Manager Job Description

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Operations Manager to lead our team at Unipart Logistics in the West Midlands. As an Operations Manager, you will be responsible for managing and motivating a team of managers to achieve business goals, focusing on continuous improvement, quality, and attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and enforce company policies and ensure team members adhere to them.
  • Lead a team of first-line managers to ensure they are effective leaders and act in line with policy, employment law regulations, and the Unipart Leadership Fundamentals.
  • Ensure health and safety standards are achieved on an ongoing basis and actively promote individual responsibility for health and safety.
  • Build and maintain strong, mutually beneficial relationships with suppliers, service providers, customers, and colleagues.
  • Maintain all aspects of stock integrity and ensure ownership of activities and resolutions.
  • Ensure operating procedures and processes meet quality requirements and support performance improvement objectives, taking into account the need to respond to volume fluctuations and changes in business and customer needs.
  • Manage and plan for operational requirements against forecast and demand.
  • Liaise with customer representatives to resolve problems and maintain partnership relationships.

Requirements:

  • Relevant operational leadership experience within Logistics and Supply Chain in a warehousing and distribution environment.
  • Experience of managing and leading teams.
  • Self-motivated with an analytical mind and an eye for detail.
  • Strong planning, organisational, and time management skills.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Customer-focused.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with a continuous improvement mind-set.
  • Computer literate, with working knowledge of Microsoft Office/equivalent, SAP, and WMS.
  • An understanding of continuous improvement tools and techniques and process improvement experience.
  • Sound understanding of Health, Safety, and Environmental legislation.
  • Six Sigma Green or Black Belt certified.
