About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Design and Development Engineer to join our team at Mirus Aircraft Seating. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for leading the design and development of our aircraft seating products.

Key Responsibilities
  • Act as a senior member of the engineering team, championing best practice and developing less experienced colleagues.
  • Apply professional expertise and judgement to deliver engineering programmes, using own initiative and with minimal supervision.
  • Support the engineering management team in identifying and implementing improvements to engineering processes, systems, and tools.
  • Take ownership of the design and development of key modules of the seat system, achieving comfort, reliability, performance, aesthetic, cost, and weight targets.
  • Work closely with suppliers to develop the design, taking into consideration supplier capability and piece cost.
  • Continually drive the design towards DFM (design for manufacture) and DFA (design for assembly).
  • Produce high-quality 3D and 2D design definition using Solidworks and PDM, along with supporting documentation.
About You

To be successful in this role, you will need to have a Mechanical Engineering degree (or equivalent) and experience in developing products in an aircraft seating environment. You will also need to be proficient in CAD and PDM systems, with experience of best practice modelling and drawing techniques.
