This is an exciting opportunity to join our team at Swansea Bay University Health Board as a Band 5 Physiotherapist in a rotational position. You will have the chance to develop your skills in both Thoracic and Cardiac physiotherapy, working with a highly experienced team in a 28-bedded general ICU and surgical wards.

Main Duties

  • To provide a high standard physiotherapy service to patients on the wards, in critical care units, and in the community.
  • To manage a defined caseload of clients with complex needs, using evidence-based and client-centered principles to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate interventions.
  • To supervise physiotherapy students on clinical placements and participate in the induction, training, and education of students and other staff.
  • To be an active participant in a 7-day working rota as required and contribute to the supervision and education of work experience placements.
  • To participate in CPD and develop skills and knowledge through participation in the in-service training scheme.

Swansea Bay University Health Board is experiencing exciting developments in all areas, with a large expansion in therapy staff. Our Cardiothoracic and Critical Care teams manage acute critical care, HDU, cardiothoracic, and cardiology wards, general ICU, max fax, vascular, colorectal, urology, and elective general surgery, as well as Thoracic Pre-Hab and Follow-up clinics.

Key Responsibilities

  • To undertake the supervision and appraisal of staff as delegated by line manager, identifying developmental needs and supporting individuals in the development of their Personal Development Plans.
  • To be responsible for the supervision and assessment of physiotherapy students on practice placement within the Health Board.
  • To review and reflect on own practice and performance through effective use of professional and operational supervision and appraisal.
  • To be accountable for the direct delivery of the physiotherapy programmes of care to clients within designated areas.
  • To be clinically competent to provide advice and treatment to individuals with diverse healthcare needs, with particular reference to medical conditions of caseload.

Requirements

  • Substantial broad range of experience as a Band 5 physiotherapist in a NHS rotational physiotherapy post.
  • Experience of working in Cardiothoracic or critical care.
  • Has worked or currently works in the NHS.

Desirable

  • Some Pulmonary or Pre-Hab experience.
