As a Design Manager, you will play a critical role in ensuring the successful delivery of construction projects by leading and managing external design consultants, design subcontractors, and construction team inputs.
Key Responsibilities- Design Management: Deliver complete, accurate, and commercially viable design information for construction and procurement processes.
- Design Compliance: Ensure design compliance to project contractual agreements, budgets, and regulations.
- BIM Principle: Develop and maintain BIM principles to enhance design and construction processes.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with the pre-construction team through the bidding process to ensure seamless project delivery.
- Project Improvement: Proactively drive project and design improvements to enhance overall project quality and efficiency.
- Tender Review: Review all tender documentation to reduce risk and ensure all tender design complies with building regulations.
- Support and Advice: Support and advise on delivery and attend project meetings as required by the Contracts Manager.
- Design Consultant Management: Proactively manage the selection and appointment of design and specialist consultants, utility services, and third-party surveyors.
- BIM Execution Plan: Lead and implement appropriate BIM execution plans to ensure successful project delivery.
- Experience: Previous contractor design experience, ideally specializing in the education sector.
- Technical Expertise: A blend of technical expertise, project management skills, and the ability to provide leadership through the design process.
- Construction Knowledge: Deep knowledge of construction methodologies, materials, and techniques, as well as the ability to translate design into buildable solutions.
- Team Management: Experience managing multidisciplinary design teams, including architects, engineers, and consultants, ensuring their work aligns with project goals.
