Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated midwife to join our Maternity Quality and Safety team at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide professional and operational support to the Midwifery clinical and management team in relation to Claims, Complaints, Clinical Risk and Governance initiatives and issues.
  • Assist with the day-to-day maternity risk management process and strategy, including the accurate reporting and validation of incidents onto the electronic system and to ensure that the appropriate actions are taken in relation to any risks that are identified.
Development, Planning and Organisation
  • Be aware of national initiatives and strategies and feed these into local maternity service development.
  • Contribute towards the planning of services to meet organisational and national targets.
Clinical Responsibilities
  • Be an active member of the relevant Clinical Governance & Risk Committees as directed and set up support systems to ensure the committees receive robust information from the Division (maternity services).
  • Comply with all Trust policies, procedures and guidelines with regards to staff management issues.
  • Take personal responsibility for own professional and personal development, in line with the NMC, and participate in personal performance reviews.
  • Be highly visible and approachable to midwifery and obstetric staff, women and their families so that open and honest communication channels are created and effective assessments of care delivery and risk management can be undertaken.

  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and contribute to the development of a high-performing team.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and mitigate risks.
  • Excellent time management and prioritisation skills with the ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks.
Working Arrangements

This is a full-time role working 80% on clinical quality and safety and 20% on clinical duties.
