Job Summary

The post-holders will be responsible for maintaining and developing the Cardiology Service in conjunction with clinical colleagues and other professional staff.

Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake clinical work in conjunction with colleagues to maintain and develop cardiology services.
  • Develop specialist skills in accordance with the needs of the department.
  • Plan future developments of cardiology services in conjunction with colleagues.
  • Work with colleagues to develop services in the community where appropriate.
  • Share responsibility with other Cardiologists to maintain and develop specialist services.
  • Provide a comprehensive clinical service to consultant colleagues and general practitioners.
  • Be accountable to the Clinical Director for management purposes and resource allocation.
  • Supervise junior staff professionally and educationally.
  • Participate in postgraduate teaching and training of all grades of staff.
  • Encourage and participate in research activities.
  • Meet national requirements for Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
  • Attend and contribute to educational programmed activity held by the Directorate.
  • Participate in clinical audit and governance arrangements.
  • Deputise for colleagues in cases of annual leave, study leave, and sickness.

Requirements

The post-holders will be expected to uphold the visions of the Trust and work with the team to deliver 7-day services for Cardiology services.
