The Whittington Health NHS Trust is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Theatre Practitioner to join our team. As a key member of our theatre department, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality patient care and contributing to the smooth running of our theatres.
Main Responsibilities- Exercise professional accountability and adhere to the NMC Code of Conduct and HCPC standards.
- Act as an effective role model and demonstrate leadership skills.
- Ensure that nursing procedures and policies are followed and maintained.
- Take charge of the theatre room in the absence of the designated person.
- Assist in maintaining a safe and effective environment for teaching and learning.
- Monitor and maintain the quality of nursing activities and achieve the prescribed standards of care.
- Provide assistance to surgeons, anaesthetists, and other healthcare professionals as required.
- Carry out nursing care to the highest possible standard, adhering to Trust policies and clinical guidelines.
- Current registration with the NMC (nurses) or HCPC (ODPs).
- Relevant experience working within theatres as a scrub practitioner.
- Essential leadership role skills and ability to work without clinical supervision.
- Good verbal and written communication skills, prioritization skills, and ability to manage learners.
- Knowledge of a range of surgical procedures, equal opportunities, data protection, infection control regulations, and risk management.
- Professional manner and good communication skills with patients and colleagues.
- Flexible and willing to rotate to all areas and meet the changing needs of the service.
- Able to work under pressure and deal with stress.
- Good attendance record and enthusiastic and motivated individual.
