Counsellor Volunteer

Location: Gloucestershire

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Volunteer Counsellor to join our team at Via in Gloucestershire. As a Volunteer Counsellor, you will play a vital role in providing support to individuals affected by drug and alcohol problems.

As a Volunteer Counsellor, you will work closely with our team of substance misuse practitioners to provide a safe and non-judgmental space for clients to discuss their concerns and issues. You will be responsible for:

• Providing a minimum of 3 clients and a maximum of 6 clients per week with one-to-one counselling sessions.
• Keeping accurate records of client work and providing feedback to the line manager and clinical supervisor.
• Attending ongoing training and development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge.
• Adhering to Via's policies and procedures.

In addition to the above responsibilities, you will be invited to participate in meetings and contribute to the development of the counselling service.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

• A passion for working in the drug and alcohol field and a commitment to providing high-quality support to clients.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with clients and colleagues.
• Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and manage multiple responsibilities.
• A non-judgmental and empathetic approach to working with clients who may be experiencing complex issues.
