Job Description:

We are seeking a skilled Network Test Automation Engineer to join our team in Bradford. The ideal candidate will have experience in automating tests using suitable frameworks, handling defect management, and providing status reports, with a primary focus on Layer 2 and Layer 3 testing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop a comprehensive network test automation framework and roadmap, encompassing technologies such as routing, switching, voice, wireless, security, cloud, DNS, and load balancing.
  • Design and implement Layer 2 networking solutions, including LAGs, spanning tree, control frame tunneling, CoS/QoS, TACACS, SNMP, FTP, SSH, NTP, ACLs, and Layer 2 device configuration and management.
  • Utilize scripting languages like Python and automation frameworks like Selenium and Robot to automate network testing.
  • Standardize the networking environment through automation, including inventory management, templating, provisioning, analysis, auditing/reporting, and resolving discrepancies.
  • Develop tools for comprehensive network monitoring and visibility, including dashboards and visualizations for real-time network state and health.
  • Take ownership of a suite of tools for network management and visibility, with experience in developing scalable on-premises or cloud-based programmatic solutions for managing extensive network environments.
  • Integrate automation with test management platforms like JIRA and Confluence.
  • Have strong technical knowledge and hands-on experience in Layer 2 Metro Ethernet networks, Layer 3 (preferably Cisco Kit), and SDWAN (Cisco/Versa/Meraki) for management, facilitation, automation, and testing.
  • Be experienced with MEF certification, Layer 3 networking, Ixia traffic generators, Cisco IOX, Cisco IOS XR, Ciena SAOS 8.x.x, SAOS 10.x.x, and using Jira for sprint planning, updates, defect management, and Confluence for documentation.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in developing a comprehensive network test automation framework and roadmap.
  • Proficient in Layer 2 networking, including LAGs, spanning tree, control frame tunneling, CoS/QoS, TACACS, SNMP, FTP, SSH, NTP, ACLs, and Layer 2 device configuration and management.
  • Expertise in scripting languages like Python and automation frameworks like Selenium and Robot.
  • Ability to standardize the networking environment through automation.
  • Hands-on experience in developing tools for comprehensive network monitoring and visibility.
  • Capable of taking ownership of a suite of tools for network management and visibility.
  • Previous experience in integrating automation with test management platforms like JIRA and Confluence.
