About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Analytical Researcher to join our team at Owlstone Medical. As a key member of our Analytical Science Research and Development group, you will play a crucial role in contributing to and developing our data processing, data analysis, and data interpretation of mass spectrometry data for biological samples used for biomarker discovery and validation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and Implement Data Analysis Workflows: Design, develop, and implement quantitative GC-mass spectrometry data analysis workflows for untargeted and targeted metabolomics and breathomics studies.
  • Lead Data Interpretation and Reporting: Interpret and report on acquired experimental data, ensuring that findings are scientifically accurate and disseminated to relevant stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams: Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including systems engineers, clinical scientists, and artificial intelligence specialists, to develop and implement data-driven solutions.
  • Develop and Review QA/QC Workflows: Develop and review QA/QC workflows for processing GC-MS data to ensure high-quality results.
  • Mentor and Train Junior Team Members: Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members, ensuring their technical development and growth.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: BS/MS/PhD or equivalent in metabolomics, analytical chemistry, or life sciences, with hands-on experience with common software packages for data processing of metabolomics data.
  • Technical Skills: Proven experience in pre-processing and pre-treatment of GC-MS data, building QA/QC workflows, and writing Python code and software versioning tools.
  • Soft Skills: Excellent communication, influencing, and negotiation skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
