Job Summary

Dynacare is seeking a skilled Laboratory Assistant to join our team. As a Laboratory Assistant, you will play a critical role in providing exceptional patient care and ensuring the smooth operation of our laboratory services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Obtain quality blood samples and other specimens from patients, utilizing phlebotomy techniques that prioritize patient comfort and safety.
  • Enter patient and test information accurately and efficiently, ensuring compliance with Ministry of Health requisitions.
  • Sort and process specimens, perform ECGs, Holter Hookups, paternity, urine, drug, and breath alcohol collections, adhering to established protocols.
  • Ensure specimens and supporting documentation are completed as required, ready for data entry and transportation to the laboratory.
  • Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Contribute to meeting departmental and corporate quality metrics, regulatory compliance, and quality indicators.

Requirements

  • Secondary School diploma and completion of a Laboratory Assistant training program or Medical Lab Assistance course with specialized training in phlebotomy.
  • Excellent customer service skills, with a genuine care for patients' health and well-being.
  • Proven phlebotomy skills, with the ability to manage anxious patients in a calm and reassuring manner.
  • Ability to prioritize and self-manage in a deadline-oriented environment.
  • Extreme attention to detail and proficiency in English, both written and verbal.
