About the Position

We are seeking a highly skilled Industrial Safety Lead to join our team at Hunter Savage. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for overseeing workplace safety and compliance within our manufacturing environment.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in health and safety management, with a minimum of 5 years' experience in a similar role. You will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining comprehensive health and safety policies and procedures tailored to our manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Policy Development and Implementation:
    • Develop and implement comprehensive health and safety policies and procedures tailored to our manufacturing environment.
    • Regularly review and update safety policies to reflect regulatory changes or workplace developments.
  • Risk Management:
    • Conduct regular risk assessments and hazard analyses for machinery, processes, and workspaces.
    • Develop mitigation strategies to reduce workplace risks and prevent accidents.
  • Compliance and Reporting:
    • Ensure compliance with relevant local, national, and international health and safety regulations.
    • Prepare and submit compliance reports to regulatory authorities as required.
  • Training and Development:
    • Design and deliver safety training programs for employees, contractors, and management.
    • Ensure that staff are knowledgeable about workplace safety practices and emergency procedures.
    • Develop corrective actions and ensure timely implementation to prevent recurrence.
  • Safety Culture Promotion:
    • Lead initiatives to promote a culture of safety and wellbeing.
    • Collaborate with department heads to integrate safety practices into daily operations.
  • Safety Equipment and Systems Oversight:
    • Monitor the maintenance and use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safety systems.
    • Conduct regular inspections of equipment, facilities, and systems to ensure compliance and functionality.
  • Documentation and Record-Keeping:
    • Maintain detailed records of safety inspections, incidents, training sessions, and policy updates.
    • Generate regular safety performance reports for senior management.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Educational Background:
    • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field.
    • Certification in health and safety management (e.g., NEBOSH, OSHA, ISO 45001) preferred.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 5 years' experience in a health and safety role within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
    • Proven track record of improving safety performance and implementing successful initiatives.
  • Technical Knowledge:
    • Familiarity with manufacturing processes, machinery, and safety requirements.
    • Knowledge of safety management systems (e.g., ISO 45001) and regulatory frameworks.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills to drive a safety-first culture.
    • Excellent communication and training skills to effectively convey safety procedures.
    • Analytical and problem-solving abilities to identify risks and develop effective solutions.
  • Technology Proficiency:
    • Competency with safety management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
    • Familiarity with incident reporting tools and data analysis for safety metrics.

Benefits and Salary:

Our comprehensive compensation package includes a base salary of $80,000 - $110,000 per year, depending on experience, plus benefits such as health insurance, retirement benefits, and performance bonuses.
