Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced HPC Network Engineer to join our team at Oxford Quantum Circuits. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in designing and maintaining our networks and services, while contributing to the architecture and design of our global networks.

This is a unique opportunity to work at the forefront of emerging technologies and be part of a close-knit team that provides a 'white glove' support level to our customers while meeting SLAs.

Role

We are looking for a HPC Network Engineer to support our current Network Engineer and provide expertise and support across our growing estate. Initially, this role involves supporting our network infrastructure, assisting with the design, improvement, and expansion. You will collaborate with various teams, including Software, DevOps, and our Quantum teams, to provide specialist network and HPC support and advise on the design and expansion of our global network.

As the role evolves, you will have the chance to take on individual projects and take ownership of HPC/quantum-related projects. This role may require out-of-hours work to ensure our network is secure and all our systems are running smoothly.

Skills & Experience

We are looking for someone with:

  • Strong routing and switching skills - administration, support, and configuration
  • Solid in-depth firewall knowledge, including support and configuration
  • Understanding of High Performance Computing (HPC) and the ability to offer advice to all teams around HPC
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, tech-led environment that is constantly evolving
  • Knowledge of Juniper or Cisco networks and the ability to pick up new skills/technologies
  • Good documentation and network design skills to contribute to our Wiki and ITIL processes
  • Experienced in implementing security standards, best practice, following security frameworks (ISO, NIST, PCI, SOC, GovS007)

We would also like someone with:

  • Experience of working in a global environment, with the ability to support and help build a global network
  • Knowledge of IaC - Infrastructure as Code (Ansible, Terraform)
  • Experience of working with or as a Systems Administrator in a hybrid Windows/Linux environment
