Job Overview

Sodexo is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Head Kitchen Porter to join our team at Shrewsbury School. As a key member of our catering team, you will be responsible for leading a team of kitchen porters and providing essential support to our chefs in the daily preparation and service of food.

The ideal candidate will have previous experience in a catering or hospitality role, preferably in a school or large-scale food service environment. You will possess a passion for food and food service, strong communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively within a team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead a team of kitchen porters and provide support to chefs in the daily preparation and service of food
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen
  • Unload and put away deliveries, empty bins, and sweep and mop floors
  • Ensure all equipment is clean and put away correctly
  • Deep clean fridges and storerooms to maintain sanitary and kitchen safety standards
  • Adhere to all health and safety regulations and food safety standards
Requirements
  • Previous experience in a catering or hospitality role, preferably in a school or large-scale food service environment
  • Passion for food and food service
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a team
  • Understanding of health and safety regulations and food hygiene standards
  • Flexibility and willingness to work varied shifts, including weekends
What We Offer
  • Competitive hourly rate of £18.00 - £26.20 per hour
  • 40 hours per week, with 5 shifts out of 7
