Job Title: Senior Financial Accountant Lead

A dynamic and forward-thinking role has become available for an experienced Senior Financial Accountant Lead to join the Canary Wharf Group team at our Canary Wharf location.

Description:

The Development segment financial accounts team is seeking a Senior Financial Accountant Lead to prepare quarterly reporting on actual results for certain developments and legal entities internally and to JV parties. This senior position will be responsible for managing multiple stakeholders, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, preparing management accounts for joint venture partners, and taking ownership of financial accounts interactions with tax, legal, and development finance teams.

Main Responsibilities:
  1. Ensure accurate quarterly segment reporting, detailing review of quarterly results and preparation of associated support schedules to guarantee financial information accuracy.
  2. Prepare management accounts for reporting to joint venture partners, including consolidations, working closely with the Development management team to review funding requirements and facilitate equity calls from JV partners.
  3. Take ownership of financial accounts interactions with tax, legal, and development finance teams on restructuring, debt deals, and other corporate transactions, preparing accounting papers to support treatment of these transactions.
  4. Reconcile cost incurred to date to construction and development cash flows and development finance draw downs.
  5. Deliver UK GAAP or IFRS compliant annual financial statements within required timeframe and iXBRL tagging, acting as main point of contact with auditors and dealing with audit queries.
  6. Ensure intercompany billings for the segment are up-to-date and work with tax to understand and forecast cash flow impacts.
  7. Manage a financial accountant, including performance management, training, and development.
  8. Identify and implement system and process improvements.
  9. Assist in application of new accounting standards as necessary, including FRS 102 and IFRS.
Requirements:
  1. Must be ACA or ACCA qualified with minimum 2 years post-qualified experience. Experience of having worked in an industry financial accounting role in the development/construction industry is essential.
  2. Must have good understanding of accounting standards, including old UK GAAP, FRS 102, IFRS, and Companies Act requirements for financial statements, specifically those that apply to the development/construction industry.
  3. Must possess excellent IT skills and be advanced user of MS Excel. Experience in using Yardi and CaseWare Accounts Production software would be advantageous.
  4. Bring energy and passion for what they do. A self-starter that is prepared to challenge the norm and explore new ways of doing things.
  5. Strong attention to detail and agility to work across range of areas is critical. Must be able to take ownership of tasks, bear responsibility for work produced.
  6. Very organised with exceptional time management skills – able to work under pressure, prioritising and meet competing deadlines. Ability to effectively manage upwards is essential.
