About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Test Engineer - Site Safety to join our Intertek Electrical UK team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for evaluating electrical products and documentation to ensure they meet specific requirements of applicable test standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Set up and deliver specified test programs on client products at customer sites
  • Perform testing of products in accordance with standards, including rating, leakage current, dielectric, temperature, pressure, stability, mechanical hazard, flammability, etc.
  • Validate project scope and sample applicability
  • Produce final evaluation and stage reports detailing summary and project findings
  • Review client requirements and prepare test plans/quotations in liaison with relevant sales staff
  • Support Sales Team during client visits, conference calls or review sessions
  • Provide project updates to customers, as well as Intertek management
  • Prepare Engineering Work Instructions and SOPs
  • Determine applicability of national/international codes and standards for the product being tested and/or evaluated
  • Conduct thorough construction review and document compliance to applicable standards
  • Communicate project status and test results to client, sales personnel, and management throughout testing. Provide on-going support to clients as needed
About You

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Senior Test Engineer - Site Safety with a strong background in electrical safety testing and evaluation. You will have a sound knowledge of component-level electronics and be able to read and understand electrical diagrams, schematics, and manufacturing instructions.

Requirements
  • Ability to read and determine applicability of national/international codes and standards for the product being tested and/or evaluated
  • Ability to read and understand electrical diagrams, schematics, and manufacturing instructions
  • Experience in testing of products in accordance with standards
  • Working knowledge of the principles and practices of manufacturing systems
  • Ability to define problems, fault find down to component level, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions and make technical decisions
  • Experience in safety critical function design/development of electrical products
  • Experience of generating test reports for customers and certification purposes
  • Experience testing industrial/commercial products to IEC/EN 61010
  • Experience testing industrial/commercial products to UL and CSA standards
  • Physical dexterity to operate equipment and perform other functions necessary to effectively and efficiently perform the duties of the job. This may include bending/stooping, turning/twisting, reaching, balancing etc.
  • Ability to travel up to 70% as business needs dictate
