Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Pharmacy Clinical Trials Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our pharmacy department, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and effective management of clinical trials. Your expertise will help us deliver high-quality research studies that benefit patients and advance medical knowledge.

Key Responsibilities

  • To assist the Pharmacy Clinical Trials Manager in managing the pharmacy aspects of clinical trials, including initial trial set-up, monitoring visits, and record-keeping.
  • To oversee the preparation and dispensing of Investigational Medicinal Products (IMPs) in accordance with standard operating procedures and regulatory guidelines.
  • To coordinate and ensure medications are ready according to clinical urgency and appointment times.
  • To maintain accurate records of drug accountability and investigate discrepancies.
  • To contribute to the efficient stock control of all clinical trial products and participate in ordering and receipt processes.
  • To monitor storage conditions and expiry dates of IMPs and ensure compliance with GCP and GMP guidelines.
  • To supervise study trial monitoring and close-out visits, ensuring that both pharmacy site files and drug returns are prepared in advance.
  • To respond promptly to enquiries and direct them to the most appropriate team member.

Requirements

  • BTEC/NVQ Level 3 in pharmacy services or equivalent.
  • Accredited checking technician qualification.
  • Registered pharmacy technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
  • Proven understanding of COSHH and current evidence of continuing professional development.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills, with ability to demonstrate fluency, clarity, and effectiveness.

Salary and Benefits

The successful candidate can expect a competitive salary of £35,000 - £45,000 per annum, depending on experience. In addition to a generous salary, we offer a range of benefits, including a comprehensive pension scheme, annual leave entitlement, and access to our employee wellbeing programme.
