Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Engineer - Nuclear (EC&I) to join our team at BAE Systems. As a key member of our Platform Nuclear Engineering Department, you will be responsible for supporting the design, build, and test activities on the Naval Reactor Plant (NRP) across multiple programmes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Developing sound technical solutions to issues arising during construction and commissioning of a Naval Plant Reactor
- Supporting or acting as the engineering member of the test and authorisation groups
- Specialising in EC&I discipline
- Authorising Chief Engineer Declaration Statements based on engineering review of the as-built/as-tested status of the plant
- Carrying out nuclear safety assessment of submarine design changes and deviations from the submarine design intent
- Ensuring the design intent of the Naval Reactor Plant is maintained during build and test activities on site
- Providing technical rationale and sound engineering recommendations to Rolls-Royce and MoD
- Proving an interface with Build/Test teams for engineering solutions
- Enabling efficient programme execution with engineering solutions
Requirements:
Essential:
- Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering or Control and Instrumentation Engineering
- Experience of supporting build and commissioning of Electrical and/or Control Systems
- Demonstrable understanding of 3 phase/single phase machines; digital and analogue based control systems and mechanical interfaces
- Technical report writing skills
Desirable:
- Experience of justifying design change, ideally on a Nuclear Plant
- Previous Nuclear Plant experience
- Knowledge of the Nuclear Industry and Nuclear Regulations
- Exposure to Microsoft Office Suite
